Chipping Sparrow Photos and Information

Chipping Sparrow Photos and Information
The Chipping Sparrow, or Spizella passerina, is extremely common in both the US and Canada. It is most easily identified by its red-brown cap and the white stripe above a dark black stripe which goes right through its eye. It has brown striped feathers and a dull white breast.

Chipping sparrows can be drawn to both regular seed and black oiled sunflower seeds. You might see them in pairs in the summer, but they tend to flock in the winter.
